Remodeling 101

Just like baking a cake,  they start with a recipe and so does your remodel.

Initially, we start off with a conversation usually in your home to discuss all your ideas, favorite colors, Pinterest, anything that inspires you. I will want to know how you use your space and what you feel its missing for it to function properly?

Then budget needs to be reviewed to make sure we stay on task.

Design deposit is paid, and measurements begin. This process with the initial drawing usually takes about a week.

We meet again, but this time in my home, where we have our HGTV moment (I use a 60” screen for this process). The initial drawing is viewed with elevations and a 360% view of what your space could look like with rendering.

We will make modifications as needed, add any accessories, select colors, door style, hardware (and how it will be installed on your cabinets), tile, countertops, and lighting. This process could take as little as an hour or three depending on how detailed or large the project is. All drawings and selections are signed off on, copies are sent to you, your contractor or one of my preferred contractors for pricing. (All renderings are emailed to you)

Contract and scheduling are established with your contractor. Generally permitting is submitted through the city or county the home resides in. If your project is under $15,000.00 and does not require any structural, electrical, or plumbing changes a permit is not required.

Pricing and ship times are updated so budget and schedule stay on track. This is the step in our process where if an item exceeds our budget (Or time line), I offer options, or we do a change order for the additional cost of the selected item.

After demo and before Plumbing/ Electrical rough in’s I like to walk the area, mark off all cabinets, and confirm measurements one more time before placing the orders. If any adjustments are required all parties (Contractor & Client) are notified and new changes approved.

Orders are placed and shipping confirmations are sent to all parties.
